Ferrum Hausmann Oral Drops, 30 ml - iron(III) hydroxide

Ferrum Hausmann contains the active ingredient iron(III) hydroxide.

Iron is a vital, essential component of the blood pigment hemoglobin, which we need for the red blood cells to transport oxygen in our body. Iron deficiency therefore usually leads to so-called anemia, which can manifest itself in, for example, paleness, tiredness, difficulty concentrating and loss of appetite.

Since our body cannot produce iron itself, we are dependent on an external supply. We have an increased need for iron, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but also during growth.

Ferrum Hausmann® solution is used in cases of iron deficiency. It can also be given to premature babies and infants.

Application
The dosage information for infants, toddlers and children refers to 3 mg iron/kg body weight per day.

Premature babies: 1 to 2 drops (2.5 to 5 mg iron) per kg body weight, daily.

Infants and young children: 10 to 20 drops (25 to 50 mg iron) per day, divided into 1-2 individual doses.

Children: 20 to 40 drops (50 to 100 mg iron) per day, divided into 1-2 doses.

Adults: 40 to 80 drops (100 to 200 mg iron) per day, divided into 1-2 doses.

Ferrum Hausmann® solution should be taken with or immediately after meals.

The duration of treatment depends on the iron metabolism (reduced intake, increased need, pathological iron loss) and the normalization of the red blood count. After the red blood count has normalized, iron medication should be continued for 1 to 2 months to replenish iron reserves.
