What Otinum is and what it is used for\u003cbr\u003eThe active substance of the drug - choline salicylate - belongs to the group of salicylates. It has an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect. The glycerol contained in the medicine softens earwax and makes it easier to remove. When used locally, the drug does not cause systemic effects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOtinum can be used:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo relieve pain caused by acute inflammation of the external, middle or eardrum.\u003cbr\u003eTo soften hardened sulfur plugs before removing them from the outer ear canal.\u003cbr\u003eIf your condition has not improved or even worsened within 10 days, consult a doctor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2. What you need to know before using Otinum ear drops against inflammation\u003cbr\u003eOtinum ear drops should not be used:\u003cbr\u003e- if you are allergic to salicylates or any of the excipients of this medicine (they are listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e- if the ear drum is pierced;\u003cbr\u003e- for children younger than 1 year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003cbr\u003eTalk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Otinum.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor children\u003cbr\u003eOtinum should not be used in children under 1 year of age.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOther medicines and Otinum\u003cbr\u003eTell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, or if you are not sure. Animal studies are insufficient to determine effects on pregnancy and\/or embryonic or fetal development and\/or parturition and\/or postnatal development. The potential danger to humans is unknown. How to use Otinum ear drops for pain\u003cbr\u003eAlways take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe recommended dose for adults is:\u003cbr\u003eIn case of acute inflammation of the external, middle ear or ear drum:\u003cbr\u003e3-4 drops of Otinum medicine should be dripped into the external ear canal 3-4 times a day.\u003cbr\u003eNo dose adjustment is required for elderly patients with kidney or liver disease.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBefore the sulfur plug removal procedure:\u003cbr\u003e3-4 drops of Otinum medicine should be dripped into the external eardrum 2 times a day for 4 days.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMedicines are administered to the patient lying on his side. After instilling the medicine, the person must lie quietly for a few minutes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUse in children and adolescents\u003cbr\u003eChildren from 1 year of age do not need to adjust the dose.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat to do if you take too much Otinum?\u003cbr\u003eIt is impossible to overdose the medicine that is dropped into the ear. One vial contains 2 g of choline salicylate. If the drug is accidentally ingested, this amount would be dangerous only for newborns.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSymptoms of overdose, possible after taking the drug: confusion, dizziness, increased sweating, vomiting, ringing in the ears and hyperventilation. Signs of CNS depression may occur after ingestion of very large amounts of the drug.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn case of overdose, it is necessary to consult a doctor, who will prescribe the appropriate treatment (induce vomiting, wash the stomach, administer activated carbon).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you forget to take Otinum\u003cbr\u003eDo not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you stop taking Otinum\u003cbr\u003eIf you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4. Possible side effects of Otinum ear drops\u003cbr\u003eThis medicine, like all medicines, can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Otinum is a well-tolerated drug. Sometimes the skin of the ear may become red and itchy (allergic reaction). How to store Otinum ear drops for sinus pain and inflammation\u003cbr\u003eKeep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store at a temperature not higher than 25 o C. Store in the manufacturer's packaging. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the bottle label and carton after EXP. The drug is suitable for use until the last day of the specified month.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMedicines must not be disposed of in the sewer or with household waste.
