Lenostella is an emergency contraceptive that is used within 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex or failure of the usual method of contraception. The active substance in Lenostella is a synthetic hormone called levonorgestrel. If used within 72 hours of unprotected sex, about 84% of expected pregnancies are prevented.
The tablet should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours and no later than 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex. Lenostella can be used at any stage of your menstrual cycle if you are not pregnant or if you do not think you are pregnant. Do not chew the tablet, but swallow it whole with water. Do not delay taking the tablet. The tablet will work best if you take it as soon as possible after unprotected sex.
