Action and properties
Menopause is the middle part of a stage in a woman's life called menopause. This is the moment when the last menstrual bleeding occurs. The other two are premenopause (starting around the age of 43) and postmenopause (the period after menopause, lasting until around the age of 55). During menopause, women may experience unpleasant symptoms that significantly impede everyday functioning, such as: cold sweats, hot flashes, frequent changes in weight and mood, changes in sleep rhythm, heart palpitations, dryness of genital organs, decreased libido, problems with concentration, feeling tired and irritability and even depression.
These symptoms are caused by the gradual cessation of the production of female hormones: estrogen and progesterone. Using Soyfem Forte helps alleviate the symptoms associated with menopause and menopause itself.
The main ingredient of Soyfem Forte is soy, a source of protein and unsaturated fatty acids, B vitamins and numerous minerals.
However, the most important property of this plant in the context of menopause is the content of soy isoflavones (phytoestrogens), i.e. natural hormones.
Phytoestrogens alleviate the symptoms of menopause by supplementing estrogen deficiencies.
Application/indications
Taking SOYFEM FORTE by women during menopause reduces the severity of symptoms occurring during this period, such as: hot flashes, excessive sweating, sleep disturbances, feelings of nervous tension and anxiety. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 3 months, contact your doctor.
Composition
The active substance of the drug is soybean extract. Each coated tablet contains 230.8 mg of dry extract from Glycine max L., semen (Glycine max semen extractum siccum), (100 - 400: 1), which corresponds to 60 mg of isoflavone complex, expressed as genistein. Solvent used for extraction: ethanol 60% – 70% V/V.
The other ingredients are: tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate; tablet coating: hypromellose, hydroxypropylcellulose, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000.
SOYFEM FORTE dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 1-2 tablets once a day.
The medicine is taken orally, preferably during a meal, with some liquid.
The score line on the tablet only makes it easier to break it for easier swallowing.
Do not use SOYFEM FORTE for more than 2 years.
Contraindications
- if you are allergic to soya, soybean oil, peanuts or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you are pregnant,
- if you are breast-feeding.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
So far, no side effects have been reported as a result of using SOYFEM FORTE.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before using SOYFEM FORTE:
- if you have or have ever had breast cancer,
- if you have or have ever had excessive growth of the lining of the uterus (endometrial hyperplasia).
SOYFEM FORTE and pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
SOYFEM FORTE should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Interactions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
When using medicines containing soy extract, no interactions with other drugs used simultaneously have been observed.
Storage
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at temperatures below 25°C.
Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton.
The expiry date means the last day of the given month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use.
Such behavior will help to protect the environment.
