HYDREX FOB TEST for detecting occult blood in stools - 1 pc.
FOB test for fecal occult blood
Medical component
This is a one-time self-monitoring home test designed to detect occult blood in feces.
It only detects human hemoglobin and therefore does not require an appropriate diet.
The sensitivity of the test is determined by 40 ng of hemoglobin in 1 ml of extraction solution.
The laboratory-precise test produces results in just 5 minutes.
It is a tool in the prevention of colorectal cancer.
Contents of the package
The package contains the equipment necessary to perform one test for the presence of occult blood in stool:
1 sealed aluminum envelope containing: 1 test plate and 1 desiccant;
1 container with diluent and an applicator for collecting stool samples;
1 test instructions.
Indications
Fecal occult blood test FOB The test should be performed in people who observe symptoms related to colon diseases.
People over 35 years of age, even if they do not have this type of symptoms, should undergo a fecal occult blood test once a year, while for people over 50 years of age such tests are necessary.
An indication for fecal occult blood testing is also family predisposition, as approximately 10% of colorectal cancer cases are familial. If there is a family history of colorectal cancer, fecal occult blood testing should be performed in people over 25 years of age.
Symptoms associated with colon diseases include: a feeling of incomplete evacuation, fecal and gas incontinence, pain during defecation, mucous stools, lower abdominal pain, unintentional weight loss, abdominal bloating, lack of appetite, change in bowel habits, alternating diarrhea and constipation, or liver enlargement.
How to use a medical device
Stool sample collection:
Hold the stool sample collection container in your hand with the blue cap on the top and the white cap on the bottom. Unscrew the blue cap and use the applicator placed in the cap to collect a stool sample for testing.
To collect a sample for testing, screw the tip of the applicator into three different places of the feces being tested to a depth of approx. 1 cm. Make sure that the feces covers the surface of the applicator only with a thin layer. Note: Too much feces on the applicator, inserted later into the container with the solution, it may give an invalid test result.
Insert the applicator with the stool sample collected in the above way back into the container with the extraction solution, cap it tightly and shake vigorously to mix thoroughly.
Performing the test:
Remove the test plate from the aluminum envelope and place it on a horizontal surface. The envelope also contains a desiccant that should be disposed of in household waste. The test should be performed within an hour.
Holding the sampling container as before (blue cap on top, white on bottom), this time unscrew the white cap that secures the tip of the container against accidental breaking off.
Shake the container vigorously to thoroughly mix the stool sample and the liquid. Then, grabbing the end of the container with a tissue, break it off.
By squeezing the sides of the container, drip 3 full drops of the solution into the round window on the test plate. While spotting, do not touch the tip to the test plate.
Start timing.
Read the test result after 5 minutes. Do not take into account the result obtained after more than 10 minutes. Pour the remaining liquid in the sample container into the toilet and rinse with water. After reading the result, throw the test and empty container into household waste.
Interpretation of results:
Negative result Only one line appears in the result window: control band C. Test band T does not appear. No occult blood was detected in the tested sample.
Positive result Two pink bands appear in the result window: control C and test T. The intensity of the color of the test band T does not matter. The test T band may be weaker, the same or stronger than the control C band. Even a very weak T band should be interpreted as a positive test result. Occult blood was detected in the tested stool sample.
Invalid result No line appears in the result window or only the T test line appears. In this case, the test result cannot be interpreted and the test should be repeated with a new stool sample and using a new test.
Contraindications and precautions
The test is for external use only.
The test package should be stored at a temperature of 2-30°C. Do not freeze.
Do not use the test if the foil envelope is damaged because moisture in the air may damage the test.
The test is intended for single use only. Dispose of the used test as any other household waste.
Keep the test out of the reach of children.
