Everyone knows it and everyone is happy when they are spared from it - coughing. Coughing is a natural protective function of the body. When we breathe in foreign substances, the body expels them from the airways by means of a coughing reflex so that we can continue to breathe freely. This stimulus is triggered by the cough receptors in the bronchial mucous membranes.
This is why coughing is often a side effect of a cold: the cold pathogen causes a runny nose and sore throat in the upper respiratory tract and then spreads to the lower respiratory tract. If it reaches the bronchi, the branches through which the air is transported to the alveoli, the immune system fights back. The result: the mucous membranes become inflamed and you cough.

Thyme & Primrose for Cough and Acute Bronchitis
Thyme is a traditional medicinal herb used primarily for colds with coughs or bronchitis. The essential oils of thyme have expectorant, antibacterial and antispasmodic effects. It relieves the typical symptoms of coughs and bronchitis and makes it easier to cough up the necessary fluids.
The saponins contained in the primrose root also have an expectorant effect and promote coughing. The medicinal plants thyme and primrose root in Bronchicum® Elixir complement each other and have a synergistic effect.
How does Bronchicum® Elixir work?
The medicinal plant combination of thyme and primrose contained in Bronchicum® Elixir has an expectorant, antispasmodic effect and promotes coughing.
Is Bronchicum® Elixir suitable for children?
Bronchicum® preparations are very well tolerated, herbal medicines. Bronchicum® Elixir is suitable for children from 6 months. Bronchicum® drops, Bronchicum® thyme lozenges and Bronchicum® thyme lozenges can be used in children from 6 years of age. Bronchicum® thyme cough syrup can be used from the first day of life.
Can Bronchicum® Elixir also be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
The widespread use of thyme as a medicine and food and the use of primrose root as a medicine have not yet revealed any evidence of risks during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, there are no sufficient studies on the use of thyme and primrose preparations during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of Bronchicum® Elixir in pregnant women and during breastfeeding is therefore not recommended.
