How Afrin works. Afrin is a decongestant medicine that relieves nasal congestion by constricting the blood vessels in the nose. It kicks in within minutes and its effects last for hours.
When to use Afrin Afrin relieves the symptoms of nasal congestion associated with hay fever, the common cold or sinusitis. It can be taken every 12 hours. If your condition has not improved or even worsened within 7 days, consult a doctor.
